Field Marshal Hussein Tantawy, president of the ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, categorically refused a proposal from an Arab state to hold a conference under its auspices to aid the Egyptian economy in the coming period.
Tantawy said he would not allow any state to portray Egypt as a beggar, adding that he is confident the Egyptian people would improve the economy themselves by working harder.
