Egyptian moviegoers flocked to theaters to see the romantic comedy “Ex-Marati” (My Wife’s Ex).
The film added nearly LE1.8 million to its total earnings on Wednesday, bringing its two-week gross to an impressive LE18.634 million, for an overall box office of total of LE36.7 million.
The film has even taken the Saudi Arabian box office by storm.
The film earned a massive LE30.6 million in its opening week, propelling its combined earnings in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia to a remarkable LE67.3 million.
The story follows Yusuf, who is tasked with issuing a psychological report for the dangerous criminal, Taha, in order to secure his release from prison.
However, he makes a surprising discovery: Taha is his ex-wife Sahar’s former husband and the father of her child.
Written by Ahmed Abdelwahab and Karim Sami Kimz, and directed by Moataz El Tony, the film stars Hesham Maged, Mohamed Mamdouh, Amina Khalil, Mohamed Otaka, Khaled Kamal, and Mustafa Ghrib.
