The owner of the Rixos Hotels Group, Nassef Abdel Latif has signed contracts to develop and manage the historic Montazah Palace in Alexandria through a usufruct agreement.
The Rixos Group will be solely responsible for the implementation, development, and upgrading of the palace.
It will also be responsible for management and operation after the official opening, with no other party involved in the development or operation.
According to the deal, the group will build a hotel within the palace, following a unique architectural style that matches the palace’s location, done through the use of the largest engineering consulting firms to achieve the latest global designs.
The plan also includes the construction of a hotel within the palace under the Rixos brand name.
The new hotel will services based on international hotel requirements, including gym and spa.
All preparations for the work to be carried out inside the palace are scheduled to be completed, with development and efficiency work to start shortly after.
The Montaza Palace was built in 1892 by Khedive Abbas II, which he used for hunting purposes.
It is surrounded by large-well tended gardens which have served to draw in tourists from across the world.
Various Egyptian Presidents such as Anwar Sadat and Hosni Mubarak have used the palace as their official residence.
The palace is also host to King Farouk’s Tea Pavilion, with its establishment and design supervised by Egyptian architect Mustafa Pasha Fahmy in 1936, according to the Director-General of Islamic, Coptic, and Jewish Antiquities in Alexandria and the North Coast, Mohamed Metwaly.
