A group of revolutionary youths announced Tuesday a campaign to gather signatures in support of legally executing ousted President Hosni Mubarak.
The group, which bills itself as the Youth Shadow Government, said in a statement that the campaign is called, "I support the death penalty for Hosni Mubarak."
Mubarak is currently standing trial before the Cairo Criminal Court on charges of killing protesters during the revolution, squandering public money and exporting natural gas to Israel at low prices.
Some Egyptians fear that the senior Mubarak will receive a sentence lighter than the death penalty, or amnesty from a public referendum.
The statement added that the execution campaign emphasizes retaliation for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during 30 years of corruption, injustice, betrayal, killing and fraud under Mubarak's rule.
The statement also declared that the Egyptian people will be satisfied with nothing less than the executions of Mubarak and other corrupt former members of his regime.
It called on citizens to join the campaign, which it hopes will continue to spread and collect more online and in-person signatures.
