Egyptian MP al-Sayed Shams-Eddin, a member of the Local Administration Committee in the House of Representatives, said that the committee discussed the daylight saving time law.
The daylight saving time has not been applied in Egypt since 2016, Shams-Eddin noted during a phone-in with TV host Amr Adib on his show “al-Hekaya” (The Story), on MBC Masr, on Monday evening.
Shams-Eddin added that the government presented to the house, a draft law with the aim of saving expenditures in the energy sector through the summer period.
He explained that there was a study submitted by Electricity Ministry saying that daylight savings will help garner US$ 25 million dollars for the state, as a result of saving gas consumption.
Shams-Eddin added that the clock will be changed and daylight saving time will be applied on the last Friday of this month until the last Thursday of October.
