US President Joe Biden confirmed that his country is close to achieving the proposal he submitted months ago regarding the prisoner deal.
Biden said in a speech at the State Department at the end of his term in foreign relations that he had held talks with Netanyahu and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and that he intends to speak with the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to push efforts toward completing the deal.
“The people of Gaza are suffering… they deserve peace, and that is why we are working to complete this deal,” the US president said.
Biden also noted the importance of confronting regional challenges, especially the Huthi threats to ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.
