Al-Masry Al-Youm has published a document attributed to the Islamic State, where the group states it is imposing fees on Egyptian exports to Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen.
The fees, according to the document, range between US$2,500 and $5,000 per container, depending on the goods it carries.
Forty percent of Egypt's exports go to Libya and Iraq, according to Sherif al-Masry, Undersecretary for the Egyptian companies that export to Arab countries.
Iraq ranks first, followed by Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Libya and then Sudan, according to the Industry Ministry's official statistics.
The problem lies in the IS's occupation of the international road between Jordan and Iraq for the past year and a half, he added.
Meanwhile, the Coordinating Council of the Boards of Export, which is affiliated with the Trade and Industry Ministry, has said it has not received any complaints from exporters regarding fees imposed by IS on Egyptian goods.
The head of the foreign trade and trade agreement sectors at the Trade and Industry Ministry, Saeed Abdallah, said Egypt's exports to Syria, Iraq, Libya and Yemen have been affected by unrest in these countries.
Abdallah added that he had heard of IS's imposed fees on Egyptian exports in Iraq, but not in other countries.
