Rashad Refaei, Chairman of Misr Travel, a subsidiary of the Holding Company for Tourism and Cinema, said a report on the activities of Ashab Tours, a tourist company organizing Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage trips, owned by the popular retired football player Mohamed Abu Trika, would be issued in a week.
Misr Travel oversees the seized tourist companies owned by Muslim Brotherhood leaders, in order to prevent diverting funds towards terrorist groups and to monitor their sources of income.
Refaei also said Abu Trika had acquired shares owned by his partner Karim Fawzy Abdel Karim in the company.
Abu Trika submitted a request to Misr Travel to shut down the company's Alexandria branch. The Ministry of Justice will decide on the request, Refaei added, pointing out that the Cairo branch had already been shut down.
