Renovation of Botroseya Church to be concluded January 3rd

The head of the company supervising the renovation of the Botroseya Church, Adel Marzouq, said the restoration will be concluded on January 3rd, to be ready for prayers by that date.

Speaking to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Marzouq said more than 80 percent of the renovation has been completed. A wooden ceiling has been installed and modern drainage system has been developed.

The wooden seats are being fixed. The doors are being painted. Glass and surveillance cameras, sound and light systems are also being installed.

Meanwhile, Tawadros Adel, manager of the project, said work has been ongoing throughout 18 days to return the church as it was was before the blast which left over 25 victims and 49 wounded.

“We have been working since the beginning of the renovation to maintain the archaeological features of the church and striving to conclude the renovation at the time set by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi,” he added.
