A delegation from the families of Egyptians who have been kidnapped in Libya in August and September met with the Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs' secretary on Monday.
Mina Samy, a researcher at the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms, accompanied the delegation.
The Commission said in a statement Monday that the victims' families submitted the most up-to-date information they were able to gather from their relatives in Libya. The commission added that seven Egyptian workers were still missing, four of whom were kidnapped on 24 August while returning to Egypt.
One of the abductees who managed to escape and return to Egypt said a group of armed men stopped Egyptian workers at Sirt City and asked them about their religion before detaining Christians. Another Egyptian was abducted on 26 August the same way, the eyewitness said.
Two other Egyptians went missing on 15 September in the Libyan city of Misrata, after they left work at 4 pm. No one knows of their whereabouts.
On Monday, 137 Egyptians arrived at the Cairo airport after having crossed into Tunisia by land and flown to Egypt from Tunisia. This Egyptian-Tunisian air bridge has been operating for 17 days to transport Egyptians out of Libya and back to Egypt.
