Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held several meetings with European NATO officials during his visit to Brussels, which started on Sunday.
The meetings tackled Cairo’s vision on several issues in the Middle East, as well as fighting terrorism and illegal immigration.
Shoukry’s meeting with the 28 European Union foreign ministers on Monday tackled the local situation in Egypt in the wake of economic reform measures, as well as the illegal immigration issue, according to ministry spokesperson Ahmed abu Zeid. European ministers were keen to acknowledge the Egyptian vision toward these regional issues.
European ministers, according to abu Zeid, highlighted Egypt's pivotal role in achieving stability in the region, being a strategic partner to the EU. They also praised stances by Cairo on handling Middle East issues.
