There has been a 20 percent increase in the number of people moving through Egypt's sea ports on the Red Sea this year, according data released by the Red Sea Ports Authority.
Malak Youssef, spokesperson for the authority, released figures for traffic through all ports in September, showing a total of 5,477 persons of different nationalities arriving a leaving through the month.
The autority's data shows that 2,833 tourists arrived, while 2,644 tourists left, marking a 20 percent increase on the same period last year.
Among the key ports included in the data are the tourists spots of Sharm al-Sheikh, Hurghada, Nuweiba and Safaga.
Youssef said 1,203 tourists and four yachts were recorded at Sharm al-Sheikh, with 694 tourists and two yachts arriving, while 509 tourists and another two yachts departed.
Hurghada seaport saw 1,246 tourists and 12 yachts, with 626 tourists and seven yachts arriving, while 620 tourists and five yachts departed. During the same period last year, only 32 tourists arrived and left through the seaport.
Meanwhile, in Nuweiba, 2,932 tourists were recorded using the port, with 1,417 tourists arriving, while 1,515 tourists departed.
In Safaga, a total of 96 tourists arrived at the seaport.
