Red Sea hotel occupancy rates rise in preparation for Holiday season

Crowds of tourists flocked to hotels in the Red Sea Governorate, coinciding with the approaching Christmas and New Year’s celebrations, as the Hurghada and Marsa Alam airports witnessed the arrival of about 150,000 tourists of various nationalities during the past few days.

Germany and Russia topped the list of arrivals, followed by Britain, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania – hotel occupancy rates were between 90 percent and 100 percent.

The Hurghada Airport saw the arrival of more than 100 flights on Saturday, carrying about 22,000 tourists of various nationalities.

Several hotels in El-Gouna and Sahl Hasheesh announced that reservations for New Year’s Eve were complete, with room prices in five-star hotels ranging from LE 7,000-10,000 for a double room, and between LE5,000-7,000 for four-star hotels excluding dinner parties, a Christmas party, and accompanying artistic events.

The hotels offer a range of luxurious oriental and western dishes such as turkey, shrimp, and lobster, in addition to distinctive musical and artistic performances including animation and musical shows.

In an additional step to improve the tourists’ experience during the holidays, about 50 tourist villages in Hurghada obtained licenses to set up marquees and festive tents on the occasion of New Year’s.

The management of Hurghada and Marsa Alam airports decorated the facilities with Christmas trees and decorations, and tourists were welcomed with flowers and souvenirs.

The streets and entrances leading to the airport were also decorated with Christmas lights and decorations, adding to the festive atmosphere.
