Egypt is keeping the Rafah border crossing open through the Eid al-Adha holidays, the first time the authorities have kept the border open over the holidays since Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2007.
The decision was made as per an agreement reached after the 25 January revolution.
The crossing was busy on Sunday, with many Palestinians arriving to spend the holiday in Egypt.
The border’s hours will return to normal starting on Tuesday.
