The Rafah border crossing has been opened for passage in both directions, an informed source said on Saturday.
The border was closed on Friday, the weekly vacation.
Passengers started crossing from both sides and procedures are being followed, the source added.
The crossing was opened in accordance to a new mechanism starting 28 May 2011, the source added.
The number of passengers during this period reached 908,545 people. Egypt-bound passengers reached 451,442 people, compared to 457,103 passengers headed to Gaza.
