Rafah border crossing closed indefinitely

The Egyptian authorities closed Friday the Rafah border crossing indefinitely, said an official source Friday.

The Rafah border crossing, between Egypt and the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, has been operating under new guidelines since 28 May 2011.

The total number of people who crossed the border since then is 887,931. 442,875 people entered the country coming from the Gaza Strip and 445,056 people left the country through the crossing.
