Quarry workers protest in Giza

Hundreds of quarry workers staged a protest Wednesday on Haram Street, one of the busiest streets in Giza, causing traffic to come to a halt.

Workers from Saff, Atfeeh and Ayyat quarries protested in front of Giza Governorate headquarters to demand their overdue bonuses and the hiring of workers on a permanent basis.

The workers raised banners that read, “Where are you, government?” and “We demand our rights!”

The Giza governor eventually persuaded the protesters to open the road to traffic and form a delegation that will present their demands to him.
