Six people, including four German tourists, were injured on Friday morning in a collision between a private car and a truck, on Qena-Safaga highway.
The injured were transferred to Qena General Hospital.
Six ambulances were dispatched to the scene of the accident, in a cooperation between Qena and Red Sea ambulance facilities.
The injured included Indiana Ligwi, 36, Susan Shaun, 46, Manfred Eagla, 54, Elena Burgette, 51, Walid Ahmed, 38, a tour guide, and Ahmed Hassany, 27, the driver.
Legal measures were taken, and prosecutors were notified for investigation.
According to a Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) report on 2017 accidents, accidents on roads that year resulted in 3,747 deaths, 13,998 injuries, and 17,201 damaged vehicles.
The report claims the main cause of accidents to be the human factor at 78.9 percent of total cases, followed by vehicle defects at 14 percent, and environmental causes such as road conditions, at two percent.
