Qatari Minister of International Cooperation Khaled al-Attiyah arrived in Cairo Wednesday for a two-day visit.
Attiyah is scheduled to meet with Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, chief of the Supreme Council for Armed Forces (SCAF), to hand him a message from Qatari Emir Hamad bin Khalifa.
He will also hold talks with Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and several ministers to boost cooperation and ties between the countries.
The Qatari Silatech foundation, which is headed by Sheikh Moza bint Nasser, signed a cooperation protocol last month with the Egyptian General Authority for Investment that included a US$10 million investment from the foundation to support the authority's efforts.
Local news reports said former Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid arrived last month in Doha amid high security.
Rachid is wanted on charges of squandering public money and abusing his powers. He was sentenced in absentia to five years in prison for wasting public money.
