Have you ever felt you possess distinguished, creative culinary talent that has been long buried? Well, if you do, get ready to work your tail off as Casper & Gambini’s and TheGiftery.com, in cooperation with Nineteen84 Management, have joined forces to bring out the chef in you in one of the most exclusive competitions in town, “The Gifted Chef.”
The competition opened on 22 April for both professional and amateur competitors to list their secret ingredients for the best innovative, yummy recipe they can come up with.
To enter, you can send your recipe, including preparation time, ingredients and procedure time to [email protected]. With your entry, include your name, email address, mobile phone number and home address, along with two pictures of your dish from two different angles. These will be uploaded to the Casper & Gambini’s and TheGiftery.com Facebook fan pages.
Sherry al-Kilany, Nineteen84 Luxury & Entertainment Management CEO, said they wanted to showcase talent.
“We wanted to bring the community together and highlight the talented cooks out there,” Kilany said. “There are so many people who work 9-to-5 jobs, but this is something they enjoy doing as soon as they get home to unwind. So why not give them the opportunity and facilities to cook like a world-class chef?”
The five competitors whose recipes and photos win the largest number of “likes” on Facebook will move onto the final round of the competition and be judged by culinary experts, including TV chef and restaurateur Chef Andrew; Laila Naga, formerly of the Four Seasons and Fairmont; Casper & Gambini’s Executive Chef David El Bitar; and Mark Khalife, managing director of the International Restaurants Group, a franchisee of Casper & Gambini’s in Egypt.
Contestants are asked to “let their creativity soar” and use impressive cooking techniques and ingredients that get prepared in 15 to 20 minutes by a team of one or two people over the age of 18, Kilany said.
“Get everyone you know to click like on your recipe on both fan pages to solidify your position as one of the top five contestants. Then it’s up to the judges,” Kilany added.
Judges will vote for the best two dishes out the five on the finale held at Casper & Gambini’s at CityStars mall on 19 May. The winning two recipes will be featured as specials for one month on the Casper & Gambini’s menu as a symbolic gesture and promotion for their names. All shortlisted contestants will receive culinary and home accessories as awards.
“The event has garnered a lot attention so far, with several contestants participating and anticipating to win the final prizes. But, like they say, the more the merrier,” Kilany said.
The deadline to register for the contest is 10 May at 5 pm.
