Public figure referred to prosecution over Eid remarks

Top prosecutor Hesham Barakat referred a claim filed by lawyer Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim against head of the Arab Society of Technical Analysts Sameh Abu al-Arayes, to head of Downtown Cairo Prosecutions over contempt of religion and making fun of Hajj rites as well as ridiculing the Quran.
 
The claim mentioned that Abu Arayes is a public figure who has 52,000 followers on his Facebook account.
 
According to the claim, on 1 October Abu Arayes criticized celebrating Eid al-Adha as celebrating murder. He wrote that Eid and sacrifice are horrible and disturbing and Eid days are the worst for him over the year, the claim added.
 
Abu Arayes questions a lot of incidents mentioned in the Quran, Ibrahim added in his claim.
 
Ibrahim called on the top prosecutor to take necessary legal action against Abu Arayes over charges of contempt of religion, disturbing public peace and inciting sedition.
