“Proud” female Maspero staffer tipped for ministry post

Dorreya Sharaf Eddin has expressed her pride after being tipped to become the first woman from Maspero to head the Egyptian Information Ministry.

The final announcement of the composition of interim Prime Minister Hezam al-Beblawy is expected mid-week.

“We will pass through this phase," Sharaf Eddin said Sunday. "I trust my colleagues highly."

"Taking charge of a ministry is not easy. The timing is also hard. Everyone expects a lot from this government, even though it is an interim," she added.

Sharaf Eddin has filled several posts at Maspero, Egypt's state broadcasting house, including chief of artistic works, deputy information minister and head of the satellite channels sector.

She has also written a number of books, including "Policy and Cinema of the 1950s" and "Policy and Cinema in Egypt."
