Protests against security vacuum in Sharm el-Sheikh

Hundreds of bazaar owners in Sharm el-Sheikh have blocked the road leading to Na’ama Bay and the airport in protest against a perceived security vacuum in the city, where a French tourist was killed and a German tourist and two Egyptians were injured in a shooting on Saturday.

Tourism Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour is monitoring the effects of the incident, which he called an “individual” act that did not specifically target the Frenchman.

Abdel Nour said security agents made great effort to apprehend three of the gunmen, who exchanged fire with police while fleeing the area, and are working to arrest the fourth.
