Hundreds staged protests across Egypt on Friday to demand the full transfer of power to President-elect Mohamed Morsy, the cancelation of the supplement to the Constitutional declaration, and the reinstatement of the dissolved Parliament.
People planning to travel to Cairo to participate in the protests in Tahrir Square overcrowded bus stations in Sharqiya, Monufiya, and Gharbiya.
In Alexandria, hundreds of protesters marched from Al-Qaed Ibrahim Mosque to the Northern Military Zone, chanting, “If there is a supplementary constitutional declaration, then the revolution is yet to be completed” and “Free revolutionaries, we will continue the path.” They carried Egyptian flags.
April 6 Youth Movement activists, revolutionaries, the Salafi Front, and the Muslim Brotherhood staged a protest in Mansoura, Daqahlia under the slogan, “We brought a president; we are here to bring his powers.”
Protesters chanted, “Down with the military rule, we are the people, the red line.” They raised a cartoon showing Morsy handcuffed in reference to the powers of the new president being limited by the supplementary Constitutional Declaration.
In Qalyubiya, the Freedom and Justice Party, the Nour Party and the 25 January Youth Coalition staged a march to reject the supplement to the Constitutional Declaration.
On Thursday evening, Jama’a al-Islamiya and its Construction and Development Party staged a protest in front of Rahman Mosque in Minya in solidarity with Friday protest in Tahrir Square.
