Hundreds of protesters continued celebrating Mohamed Morsy’s victory in the presidential election following a jubilant night in Tahrir Square.
The protesters reopened the square to traffic after it had been closed for four days. Traffic police maintained an intense presence in nearby Abdel Moneim Riyad square and at the entrances to Tahrir.
The protesters gathered in front of the stage set up in Tahrir close to Mohamed Mahmoud Street, carrying Egyptian flags and pictures of Mohamed Morsy. They chanted slogans in support of Morsy and organized some marches around the square.
The protesters said they would not end their protest until all their demands have been fulfilled.
The demonstrators call for the handover of power to Morsy and granting him full powers, the cancellation of the supplement to the Constitutional Declaration, and the restoration of the dissolved People’s Assembly. They also demand that the constitution-writing assembly is kept intact.
