Several temporary workers of the General Authority for Veterinary Services allegedly attempted to break into the iron gates of the parliament which leads to the Cabinet on Tuesday, demanding disbursal of their salaries and be hired like their colleagues in other departments of Agriculture Ministry.
Verbal altercations took place between the protesters and security forces. Dozens of masters and PhD degrees graduates from the class of 2014 resumed their protests in demand of jobs like their colleagues from the class of 2013.
Meanwhile, security troops intensified their presence at the vicinity of the Cabinet. Security personnel banned gatherings and confronted attacks. Protesters complied when officials from Interior Ministry arrived and urged them to retreat back to Hussein Hegazy street.
One protester said that the ministry has been neglecting decisions to give them fixed contracts, saying that their salaries range between LE60-70 monthly.
“There is reluctance by authorities to which the Central Agency for Organization and Administration nominated us to be employed there,” another protester said indicating authorities like social insurances, railways, notary offices and universities. They claim that the letters they received are non-binding to them.
