Train traffic was halted in Upper Egypt on Friday afternoon as residents protested on the railway lines in Ayyat, an area located between al-Wasta and Giza.
Hussein Zakaria, head of the National Railway Authority, issued a statement saying that dozens of trains would be halted as the protesters continued their demonstration on the Cairo-High Dam line, the main line between the capital and Upper Egypt.
