Prosecutors challenge Popular Alliance members’ acquittal in January 25 demonstration

Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat decided on Tuesday to challenge a court ruling acquitting the leaders and members of the Socialist Popular Alliance Party for demonstrating without a permit on the fourth anniversary of the January 25 revolution.

The party members had marched from Talaat Harb Square to Tahrir Square carrying flowers and paper banners when they were suddenly shot at, killing activist Shaimaa al-Sabbagh and wounding three others.
