Mansoura Prosecution ordered on Wednesday remanding nine Muslim Brotherhood members, who were arrested in the aftermath of killing a driver during a protest by the group on Monday, for 15 days pending investigations.
According to prosecution sources, 15 charges were levelled against the suspects including premeditated murder, gathering, possessing weapons, intimidating citizens, joining a banned terrorist group, inciting violence and murder.
Public prosecution also decided arresting the tenth suspect Yasser Shahin, a professor who was accused of inciting violence, murder and staging protest without permission.
Anger was ignited in Mansoura against the Muslim Brotherhood after dozens of its members stabbed on Monday the 32-year old driver Mohamed Gamal Eddin to death and setting his cab on fire as he tried to pass through a protest by the group that blocked al-Geish street.
Police arrested 14 Brotherhood members, who took part in the protest. Nine of them were referred to prosecution after their involvement in the accident was proved by the national security agency investigations and videos filmed by passers by.
