Prosecution imprisons Suez governorate’s secretary-general in bribery case

First attorney-general, Counselor Khalid Diaa al-Din, imprisoned the secretary-general of Suez governorate and two other defendants for four days, pending investigations.

According to investigations made by the Administrative Control Authority’s (ACA) officers, the secretary general made an agreement with the other defendants to take LE 400,000 in bribes from a contractor, in exchange for leaking information on the sale of a plot from the Suez governorate worth LE 188 million.

The ACA’s investigations also proved that the defendants exploited their positions by issuing licenses to building quarries in violation of the law and refraining from taking legal measures regarding delayed collection of state dues.

The defendants will be referred to the judge of dissensions to renew their imprisonment for 15 days pending the investigations.
