Writer Alaa al-Deeb passed away in Maadi Military Hospital on Thursday evening at the age of 77.
The funeral will be held after Friday prayers in Sayyed Aisha mosque.
Deeb was born in 1939 and obtained his bachelor of law from Cairo University. He has written five novels, including "Children With No Tears", "Rosy Days", and "A Moon Over the Swamp" and many short stories, including "Cairo", "The Eternal Traveler" and "Friday Morning".
Deeb received the state's merit award in literature in 2002.
Two of Deeb's most renowned writings include "A Pause Before the Slope" and "From the Papers of an Egyptian Intellectual".
