Dozens of Muslim Brotherhood supporters organized a protest in Deshna village, Qena on Friday, to demonstrate against the "military coup" and demand the return of toppled President Mohamed Morsy.
Marches were staged from several mosques in the village to Mugamma al-Masaleh Square. The protesters chanted "Down with military rule," "Islamic, Islamic despite seularism," and "Oh Sisi, Morsy is my president."
They raised banners condemning the coup and carrying symbols of Morsy and the four-fingered Rabaa al-Adaweya hand salute.
In Helwan microbus drivers meanwhile clashed with pro-Morsy protesters during marches staged on the Corniche.
Some protesters attacked an Al-Masry Al-Youm photojournalist and seized his camera to force him to leave the area.
