Security sources at the Prisons Department have said that Mohamed Rateb, head of the department, ordered that prison rules should be strictly applied to the Brotherhood detainees.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the sources said the Interior Ministry is considering keeping the Brotherhood leaders in different prisons or in separate wings inside the al-Aqrab prison, as well as not allowing them to meet during breaks.
Mostafa Baz, the previous head of the Prisons Department, was dismissed for allowing the Brotherhood leaders to meet in prison.
The source also said that Mohamed Badie (the supreme guide of the Muslim Brotherhood), Abul Ela Madi of the Wasat Party, Ahmed Abdel Aty (director of deposed President Mohamed Morsy's office), and Ayman Hodhod (Morsy’s security adviser), would be separately detained at Tora, Borg al-Arab and al-Aqrab prisons. They are currently being held in Tora prison.
The al-Aqrab prison will hold Khairat al-Shater, Rashad al-Bayoumi, Mohamed Mahdi Akef (the former supreme guide), Hazem Abu Ismail (leader of the Salafi Al-Raya Party), Mohamed Saad al-Katatni (speaker of the dissolved parliament), former MP Mohamed al-Omda, Helmy al-Gazzar, Mohamed al-Zawahry, Essam Mokhtar Moussa , Ahmed al-Agizy, Abdel Rahman Mohamed Mostafa, Mostafa Hamza, Ashraf Sabry, Ashraf Mahmoud, Hazem Farouk, Omar Hassan al-Malik and Essam Sultan.
The Masraa prison will hold Mohamed Badie, Ahmed Abdel Aty, Ayman Hodhod, and Abul Ela Madi and Khaled al-Azhary.
Tora prison will then include Ahmed Abu Baraka, Mourad Ali, Ahmed Aref, Safwat Hegazy, Mohamed al-Beltagy and Gamal al-Ashry.
Borg al-Arab prison in Alexandria would include Hassan al-Brince and Sobhi Saleh.
Security sources said Shater is in good health, denying reports that he was sick.
