Buckingham Palace announced, in a statement, that Prince Harry will attend the coronation of King Charles in May, but his wife Megan, Duchess of Sussex, will remain in the US with the couple’s children.
“Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement. The palace added, in a statement, that the Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
In March, a spokesperson for the duke told CNN that the couple had been invited to the coronation but had yet to confirm their attendance.
On May 6, King Charles and Queen Camilla will arrive at Westminster Abbey in procession from Buckingham Palace and return later in a larger ceremonial procession, accompanied by other members of the royal family.
The palace did not specify which family members would appear in the procession and who would be on the balcony.
The coronation will be celebrated over three days across the country.
Heads of state and foreign dignitaries are expected to attend the coronation ceremony.
Reports said that Harry’s potential role in the coronation is unclear, given that he is no longer a working royal family member after his decision to step back from royal duties three years ago.
