Several presidential hopefuls said Sunday they have submitted a report to the ruling Supreme Council for Armed Forces (SCAF) on the steps they believe should be taken to ensure a stable transfer of power and democratic reform in Egypt.
The seven hopefuls, including Mohamed ElBaradei, Hamdeen Sabbahi, Amr Moussa, Hazem Abu Ismail, Mohamed Selim al-Awa and Hesham al-Bastawisi, assured after the meeting that they will continue discussions among themselves and political groups in order to achieve the Egyptian people's demands.
In a statement on Sunday, they said they will hold a later press conference to declare their stance.
The seven candidates have held three secret meetings over the past two weeks. None of them spoke about the details or locations of their meetings.
ElBaradei earlier posted on Facebook denouncing the SCAF’s decision to extend the Emergency Law without having it approved by the Supreme Constitutional Court.
Several politicians and opposition figures also criticized the SCAF for making decisions without consulting political forces during the transitional period.
