Egypt's electoral commission announced on Sunday that the presidential elections will take place on 26 and 27 May.
The window for nominations for presidency will begin on Monday and last until 20 April, the commission said in a press conference.
Egyptian expatriates voting will start on 15 May. Results of the first round will be announced by no later than 5 June.
Former army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is seen as the leading candidate. He submitted his resignation to the Supreme Council of Armed Forces on Wednesday and to cabinet on Thursday.
Hamdeen Sabbahi, a former presidential hopeful who ran unsuccessfully in the 2012 elections, said he will also stand for elections.
Runoffs will take place on 16 and 17 June. Results will be declared on 26 June maximum.
The election will continue to a second round if there is no clear winner, but many political analysts say that outcome seems unlikely given Sisi's popularity after the army overthrew Islamist president Mohamed Morsy in July last year, in addition to the absence of serious contenders.
