President Sisi urges Egyptians to embrace sports during Military Academy visit

CAIRO, Jan 30 (MENA) – President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi underscored the importance of physical exercise and the need to instill a culture of sports among Egyptians, stressing that Military Academy students should continue practicing sports after graduation.

Speaking to students over an early morning breakfast at the academy on Friday, President Sisi said that indoor exercise requires neither extensive equipment nor large spaces, noting that workouts can be performed in areas as small as one or two square meters.

He added that maintaining physical activity is essential for building and preserving the body, while energy levels naturally decline with age, limiting the benefits of diet alone after 20 or 40 years.

The president highlighted the academy’s high educational standards, saying that the curriculum now includes subjects not previously offered, such as policy, economics, computing, logistics and engineering.

President Sisi also addressed the importance of respecting diversity and avoiding social polarization, urging students to embrace cultural differences and reject divisions based on region, religion, or social background, stressing that unity is essential for societal advancement.

Responding to student questions, the president reaffirmed that the academy offers an unprecedented educational path grounded in meritocracy, with strict standards and no favoritism.

He noted that while social media can reflect public awareness, official information from government ministries remains the authoritative and accurate source.

On national awareness, President Sisi highlighted the role of intelligence services in monitoring online activity that could incite tensions, stressing that societal understanding of such matters requires time and sustained education.

Regarding student life, he encouraged discipline, collaboration, and ethical conduct, and stressed that the academy environment is designed to maximize learning and personal growth, free from distractions such as mobile phones, to ensure a productive and enriching experience for all students.
