Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi welcomed Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva at the Ettehadiya Palace on Thursday.
Lula da Silva’s visit coincides with the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Brazil and Egypt.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency Ahmed Fahmy said that the talks will focus on bilateral relations, and joint coordination in international forums owing to the regional weight of each of both countries.
It will also discuss joint efforts to develop and reform the international governance system, to more fairly reflect the interests of the countries of the south.
The Brazilian President’s visit to Egypt comes in light of both countries involvement within the BRICS group, in addition to Brazil’s presidency of the G20 this year and its invitation to Egypt to participate as a guest in the group’s meetings.
