The executive director of the National Elections Authority, Ahmed Bendari, announced that current President and running candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has received the endorsement of 424 members of parliament, and at least 1.13 million proxies from citizens.
Bendari also announced that the head of Sisi’s presidential campaign, Mahmoud Fawzy, submitted Sisi’s candidacy papers for the 2024 presidential elections on Saturday morning.
He confirmed that the endorsements are being reviewed, noting that the committee is still in session until October 14 to receive candidacy papers for the elections.
