In a landmark show of unity, HE Nikos Christodoulides, President of the Republic of Cyprus, joined HE President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the Official Presidential Opening Ceremony, where pivotal gas agreements were signed, advancing regional collaboration, energy security, and investment.
EGYPES 2025 commenced with influential addresses setting the strategic direction for the event. H.E. Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Egypt, articulated Egypt’s vision for energy security and decarbonization. Furthering this theme, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Energy, Saudi Arabia, emphasized the criticality of regional cooperation and long-term stability. From the private sector, Claudio Descalzi, Chief Executive Officer of Eni, underscored Egypt’s pivotal role in global energy markets, referencing the significant impact of the Zohr field’s gas production. John Christmann, President & Chief Executive Officer of Apache Corporation, reinforced Apache’s enduring investment in Egypt’s energy future.
Historic Agreements Signed to Bolster Energy Security and Sustainability
Underscoring the event’s impactful outcomes, several historic agreements were formalized, effectively reshaping the regional energy landscape. These included the Cronos Project Host Government Agreement and the Aphrodite Natural Gas MoU between Egypt and Cyprus with instruments designed to bolster energy security and facilitate cross-border gas development. Furthermore, the Egypt-Saudi Executive Plan for Energy Efficiency was concluded, strengthening bilateral cooperation in technological innovation and sustainability. Finally, a major Renewable Energy Contract between between Egypt and Saudi Arabia was established to accelerate clean energy initiatives and advance the energy transition.
A Global Exhibition Showcasing Energy Innovation
In parallel, the EGYPES 2025 Global Exhibition welcomed over 47,000 participants from more than 120 countries. The exhibition showcased over 500 exhibitors, including more than 40 NOCs, IOCs, and IECs, presenting cutting-edge energy solutions. Eleven international pavilions highlighted advancements in energy diversification, complemented by the Future Energy Zone and Start-Up Pavilion, which showcased disruptive innovations in decarbonization, renewables, and climate technologies.
