President Sisi directs to expand area of agricultural lands in Toshka

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi urged more coordination among the departments concerned in the State to reclaim more lands and develop agricultural and irrigation systems in Toshka.

President Sisi’s remarks came during a meeting with Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Hisham el Sweefi, Director General of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) Major General Waleed Abu El- Magd, board chairman of the national company for desert lands Tawfiq Samy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Company for General Construction and Supplies Major General Karam Salem and assistant chairman of the engineering authority for Toshka projects Mahmoud Fekry Monday.

Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said the meeting reviewed the executive situation of land reclamation projects in Toshka region of southern Egypt.

The president was posted on steps to carry out Toshka development projects in cooperation with the different governmental bodies concerned.

The project calls for reclaiming more lands, increasing the area of farmlands, providing water resources and building the needed essential infrastructures, establishing giant water lifting stations, water grids and irrigation systems and expanding existing industrial and engineering works as well, along with forging ahead with the upgrade works of roads and axes leading to the region.
