President shortens curfew hours

President Hosni Mubarak, in his role as the military commander-in-chief, has issued a decision reducing the curfew from 14 to 11 hours.

The curfew will come into effect on Saturday from 7 PM to 6 AM the next day, according to Mubarak.

A curfew was imposed last Friday, 28 January, after protests broke out nationwide. It first started from 7 PM to 7 AM and was then extended as turmoil continued from 3 PM to 8 AM, Cairo time.
