President calls on women to take part in referendum on constitution

Interim President Adly Mansour has called on Egyptian women to take part in the referendum on the newly amended Constitution.

In a speech on behalf of Mansour, Sekeena Fouad, the presidential adviser for Women Affairs, said, “Every Egyptian woman keen on stability of her country and bright future for its sons should take part in the referendum and realize importance of her vote and participation to stop the bloodshed and plots to divide Egyptians. Parliamentary and presidential elections should follow to fulfill demands of Egyptians with women, the most important on top.”

During a conference entitled “Women and the Constitution: a vision of future,” Mansour added, “Egypt should achieve what its people deserves of standing between developed countries through its women, men, youth and elders especially that Egypt has human and natural wealth.”

Women’s demands will be fulfilled through fair representation in parliamentary councils and municipalities as well as legal and constitutional entitlements, according to Mansour.

Egypt will see referendum on constitution on 14 and 15 January.
