Power cuts recurred for several hours in a number of governorates on Thursday.
In Qena, people said there were power outages for more than four hours throughout the day. Shopkeepers complained their food products were spoiled and called for a quick solution before temperatures rise in the summer.
In Aswan, people said there were alternate outages in several parts of the city, adding that their electrical household appliances were damaged.
In Sohag, electricity went out five times in the villages during the period of school exams, keeping students from studying. People said the Electricity Minister was lying when he promised, while inaugurating the Ain Sokhna power plant, that outages would not be like last year.
For his part, a source at the Sohag Electricity Company said the load on the network needed to be reduced.
In Minya, electricity went out for 30 to 45 minutes five times throughout the day.
In Daqahlia, Governor Hossam Eddin Imam ordered energy saving bulbs to illuminate streets so as to reduce consumption.
