Pope Tawadros receives Serbian President

Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria received on Sunday 14/7/2024 Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić at the papal headquarters in Abbassiya district.

Before meeting the pontiff, the Serbian leader wrote some words in the church’s VIP Visitor Book.

Spokesman for the Coptic Church Bishop Moussa Ibrahim said Pope Tawadros talked, during the meeting, about the establishment of the church in the first century AD by Saint Mark, noting that Egypt has now the largest cathedral in the Middle East which is the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah El #Sisi in 2019.

He said decision-makers in the world must realize that the priority must be given to peace so that the world can move towards a better future.

President Vucic expressed his happiness to meet Pope Tawadros, praising the important role he plays for  peace, describing him as peacemaker.

The Serbian leader expressed his hope for  peace to prevail throughout the world, and invited Pope Tawadros to visit Serbia.

The meeting was attended by Bishop Daniel of Maadi and Anba Julius, General Bishop of Old Cairo and Public Services along with other clergymen.
