Lebanese singer Haifa Wehbe’s media office declared on Wednesday that she broke up with her husband Mahmoud Abu Hashima, an Egyptian businessman, after four years of a marriage.
“We are saddened to announce that we decided to go our separate ways. The decision is mutual after years of great companionship. It is our duty to issue this official statement to our fans and the media as we personally released the news of our marriage four years ago … Kindly respect our privacy,” a brief statement from Wehbe’s PR office said.
The statement said both parties will maintain a relationship of friendship and respect. It did not mention the reasons behind the couple’s decision, but stressed on the importance to respect their privacy. It has been published in English and Arabic on Wehbe’s accounts on social networking websites.
People close to the couple said they have not yet divorced.
