A poll by the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera) conducted over President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s recent visit to New York, showed that 68 percent of Egyptians heard of or were aware of the visit, while 85 percent believe the visit improved Egypt’s image to the world.
Regarding what Sisi did during the visit, 13 percent said he met up with several presidents, prime ministers and businessmen, 11 percent said he attended the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), while 10 percent said he met with US President Barack Obama. Sixty-three percent said they did not know the proceedings of the visit.
Seventeen percent said they heard or read the speeches. Thirteen percent said they read or heard one speech, while 70 percent said they did not hear or read any of the speeches.
Baseera chief Maged Othman said the poll was conducted over 2026 persons between 18 years old and above nationwide.
Sisi took part for the first time in the UN Climate Summit and the 69th session of the UNGA. One of the speeches he gave was on behalf of the Arab nations during the Climate Summit and the other was during the UNGA session.
