A number of Egyptian political parties supporting the constitutional amendments continued urging citizens to participate in the referendum for the amendments, through conferences and educational seminars across different governorates.
Moussa Mostafa Moussa, head of the Ghad Party which is a member of the pro-regime’s Egyptian Parties’ Coalition, announced that his party plans a series of rallies in a number of governorates to support the constitutional amendments and explain the objectives of this step and its importance, urging people to participate in the referendum.
Moussa said in a statement on Monday that the first conference of the party will be held in Alexandria on April 7 in Borg al-Arab, the second in Minya al-Qamh in Sharqiya governorate on April 13 , the third in Quesna on April 17 in Monufiya governorate, the fourth in Kafr al-Sheikh on April 18, and the fifth in Kafr al-Arab village in Qalyubiya governorate on April 20.
The Free Egyptians Party launched a campaign entitled “Yes to the Constitution” across the country, starting with Alexandria.
The party’s statement said that task forces would be established at various areas to help citizens and inform them of their assigned polling places. The statement added that the party is continuing to work on the campaign, dubbed “Your opinion is important to us”, launched by the party to collect the opinions of citizens regarding the amendments.
The Future of the Homeland Party held a number of seminars all over the country, with their slogan “Come down, participate, say your opinion”, in order to introduce constitutional amendments to citizens and spread awareness of the importance of rallying for the referendum.
The seminars discussed a number of amended constitutional articles, and national projects currently in progress by the government, encouraging citizens to participate in the upcoming referendum out of national duty.
The Future of a Nation party organized educational symposia in the governorates of Gharbiya, Daqahlia, Beni Suef, Fayoum, Minya, New Valley, Sohag and Luxor regarding participation in the referendum.
The Reform and Renaissance Party announced the launch of the “Speak your word” campaign, in order to urge citizens to participate in the referendum.
Alaa Mustafa, the party’s spokesman, said in a statement that the campaign aims to organize a series of rallies to raise political awareness among citizens towards the importance of exercising their right to vote, which would reflect their keenness to take part in decision-making.
According to the statement, the party plans for rallies in Cairo, Alexandria, Beheira, Kafr al-Sheikh, Giza, and Qalyubiya.
Yasser al-Hudaiby spokesman for the Wafd Party, told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the party would hold a meeting on Tuesday regarding the proposed constitutional amendments. He added his party was waiting for the parliament’s report to decide on its action plan.
The Egyptian Freedom Party, headed by Salah Hasaballah, official spokesperson of the parliament, will hold a conference on Tuesday in a hotel in order to launch a campaign to urge citizens to participate in the amendments referendum under the slogan “Be responsible, take part in the constitution”.
Hasaballah issued a statement saying that the party launched awareness campaigns of the importance of the constitutional amendments, adding that all the reports received by the general secretariat of the party revealed a great political awareness among citizens.
“Participation in the referendum on the constitution will be historic, because the people have the intention and the will to deliver a message to the world that they will continue to support their country and their political leaders,” he said.
