Political parties lash out at Muslim Brotherhood

Political parties rejected a statement by Muslim Brotherhood General Guide Mohamed Badie on Thursday, in which he said the group is like a mother to all political parties, considering it “as condescending as the way deposed President Hosni Mubarak looked at the parties.”

“From now on, we are rivals and not partners as before,” said Nasserist Party President Mohamed Abul Ela.

For his part, Tagammu Party spokesman Nabil Zaki said the group had diverted from the secular framework of the state and established a party that discriminates between the citizens of the same nation.

The Wafd Party and the Democratic Front Party also rejected Badie’s statement.
