A low-ranking police officer was killed by gunmen in al-Zohour neighborhood in Arish Thursday morning before they escaped.
The security forces combed the area following the incident in an attempt to catch perpetrators, but the suspects were not found.
The policeman's body was transferred to hospital and the prosecutors were notified to carry out investigations.
Violence has continued in North Sinai since the ouster of President Mohamed Morsy last July.
